Briggs Home

Maybe the oldest home in Jackson, it stands, long the Grijalva home, at Center and Highway 88, uphill from its original location nearer the creek. Robert M. Briggs, one of the last of the Know Nothings in 1857 - district attorney - elect in 1863, 1865 and 1871, owner and editor of the Amador Ledger in the 1870's and superior court judge of Mono County 1880 - 1886. The rest of the story can be read in Larry Cenotto's "Logan's Alley, Vol III"
