Carson Trail Scenes
In 1851 enterprising J. Wesley Jones traveled to first summit of Carson trail and took daguerreotypes of the scenery.Those were lost but not before he or another artist sketched them. They are the earliest known views of the pass.

To the right is art by Larry Schuman, the generator building at Plasse's resort which may date from 1852 and thus be the oldest dwelling or cabin in the Sierra.
