George Woolsey and wife Mary E. Woolsey lived here while doing business in Ione and the surrounding areas.

Except Amador Ledger - Feb 21, 1908 George Woolsey and Mrs M. E. Woolsey hide themselves to Jackson Tuesday and were quietly married. May they enjoy many, years of happiness.

The old Woolsey Store was on the corner of Buena Vista and Jackson Street

George Woolsey's store provided goods to the citizens of Ione for a number of years. Woolsey arrived in California in 1856 and set up his first store in partnership with J.P. Palmer at Lancha Plana.
