Emile Pitois

The Pitois family arrived in Jackson in 1854. The patriach of the clan worked as a gardener and then went on to plant vineyards and to bottle wine. Emile settled on his own farm near Jackson, served on the board of elections, and worked as a correspondent for the Amador Ledger well into his eighties. Pictured here with his grandson Whitney.
