Zeile Mine, Jackson, Amador County

AS POSTED IN THE AMADOR LEDGER
August 17, 1900

"Work at the Zeile mine is going forward as usual. This famous mine has of late years escaped many of the vicissitudes so prevalent with many other producers. It is one of the mainstays of Jackson."

This Circa 1905 photo was taken of the area south of Gordon's hill. In the photo you see the south fork, jackson creek, broadly winding between Zeile mine works, left and Meeks' hill. Butte mountain rises in the distance right.

This marvelous photo of the Zeile gold mining operations before turn of century was taken from across the creek and in the future football and baseball field.
