Our family heritage tour starts here. Being that  we are nine generations in Amador County. We will say "Great Grandpa Newton" ,through out our tour.                                                                         

Great Grandpa Newton Ezra Denend was born April 30, 1843 in Davenport, Delaware, Co, N.Y. There he married his dearest wife Phebe A. Coulter in Walton N.Y. Jan. 20, 1868.  They left N.Y. and traveled to Topeka, Kansas, Three of their children were born, Griffith ,1869, William, 1871, and Francis, 1873. Shortly after this they left Topeka Kansas for the great venture of traveling by covered wagon to the Mother Lode Gold  Country. Settling in Volcano , Ca.,  and home steading 280 acre ranch which is two miles above Daffodil Hill. Their next child to be born was Elma, 1875.

A year later on March 19,1876 Great Grandpa Newton lost his dear wife Phebe. She was buried in the Volcano cemetery on the north side the markings on the grave say she was born on Jan. 20, 1837, in Brushland, New York.
